Doctor Shamsul Alam Khan Milan (27 Nov 1990) |
| Tito Son of Syed Samsul Huda, Syed Aminul Huda Tito hails from Bajitpur upazilla. A dedicated political activist Tito was the leader of the local Students' Union (the student front of Communist Party of Bangladesh). To join the all party anti military dictatorship (General Ershad) protest rally Tito came to Dhaka on 9th November 1987, from Bajitpur. Tito had to come to Dhaka on push bike because the roads were blocked by the government forces and the armed cadres so that the activists from outside Dhaka are unable to join the anti military protest rally. In the morning of 10 November 1987, Tito headed for the rally from the communist party office. Tito was in the front of the procession when the police opened fire. As the procession approached the zero point the police shot Tito from a close range and he fell with some other fellow protestors. As the protestors tried to take Tito's bleeding body away for treatment the police truck came upon them and the cops snatched Tito's body. The protestors fought with the cops to retain Tito's body. But the cops then threw tear gas and sprayed hot water to disperse the protestors. As the protestors ran for water and shelter the police van quickly disappeared with the dead bodies of those fallen including Tito. Being an activist of the largest political party Awami league, Nur Hossain became the icon of the anti military dictatorship movement of 1987. But Tito's sacrifice has only been mourned by his family members, relatives and remembered by his party comrades. |
